If you are so “incompetent” as a grown adult women (who is able bodied) that you cannot hang a picture or shovel a driveway by yourself, you are doing that on purpose. Yes it might be difficult, yes you might have to look up instructions, yes you might do it wrong the first time, and sure you might even need a little help but you should be able to do it.

You are not a ~🌸girl🌸~ you’re a grown woman. An adult. Infantilizing yourself to get others to do tasks for you is no better than men who weaponize their incompetence.

Dumbing yourself down in anyway is a dangerous game. Sure, in the short term there may be benefits but in the long term there are never any rewards. The men who view you as less than already have a bad view of women and these ideas are continuing to reinforce that.

Calling jobs “blue jobs” or “pink jobs” and acting stupid on main just reinforces the idea that women are not meant to be in the same places as men. Women are silly, incompetent, and incapable. Even men with a neutral view of women see things like this and are impacted.

When women post things like this online their target audience is other women, women who probably see this as a silly little joke. But just because that’s your target doesn’t mean it’s the only people it’s getting pushed out to. Men, more often than not, also get pushed “women’s only” content. They don’t see these things as jokes. They believe this is how women actually feel.

If we, as women want to get ahead we cannot dumb ourselves down just for the sake of haha funny content. Just because it’s a trend doesn’t mean you have to follow it.

I think this person on reddit summed up the youtube adblocker situation perfectly. my reaction to this is not "oh man guess I'll watch ads." its, "well, I guess I'll just do something more productive with my time." I highly doubt any adblock user is going to willingly go back to watching ads. so what actually happens is youtube loses a functionally tiny amount of its userbase--because adblockers weren't even losing them a significant amount of money in the first place(!)--and a bunch of adblock users move on to something else. what a fantastic waste of time and effort
